EUROCODE IS HERE !!!
There is much confusion and rumour about what Eurocode actually means. In a bid to dispel the myths, Equipe are holding a number of one day discussion forums. The forums will be made up of a number of relatively short presentations but will concentrate on debate and discussion. Each session will be introduced by one of our panel of experts who will be able to develop the discussion and answer questions. This will not be a training day, as there are many good courses already available, but may well be a day where you learn of the reality check of how Eurocode will inevitably change the way we scope, specify, carry out and report geotechnical investigations.
Next Seminar
Planning and executing site investigations
to conform with Eurocode 7
Date: T.B.C
Presented by
John Powell (Geolabs) and Pete Reading (Equipe)
Course Content:
The day will cover:
What the designer and practitioner needs to understand from the outset to ensure that the investigation produces the information required for compliance with Eurocode 7.
This includes understanding partial factors and the effect these have on accuracy of parameters. And what is needed to obtain the derived values which will ultimately enable the determination of characteristic values.
Site investigation methods and deciphering 22475 part 1 what sampling methods to use and what class of sample is needed to obtain various parameters and the implications of parts 2 and 3. A detailed look at the requirements of 22475.
What part can Insitu tests play? Should we be doing more insitu testing?
Designing the investigation to get best value; A step back to gain a total overview from the start to finish of the works.
Reporting requirements and responsibilities; Who should do what and when. Where does reporting responsibility lie?
This course will attempt to answer some of the questions which are being raised and clear some of the fog which seems to surround the implementation of the Eurocodes.
Each section will commence with a presentation generally followed by a short exercise and then time for a discussion and questions.
